Karen:
I have traveled extensively to large and small cities and at one point was simultaneously an elite member of two airline frequent flier programs. Needless to say, I learned through experience the ins and outs of travel.
While that might sound grueling, there were many perks. Many of our meetings were held in resort settings. I spent weeks in locations including Breckenridge, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Orlando. Off the continent, Puerto Rico and Bermuda were frequent stops along way, with some time in Europe added to the mix.
Cruising was something I stumbled upon. I took my first cruise during the road warrior days – needed a vacation from traveling. Because I was tired of hotels, it seemed like a logical choice.
I was skeptical to say the least, but found cruising to be fun in addition to being a great value. With changing scenery, as much or little activity as you desire, no packing and unpacking (need I go on) how can you not love this type of vacation.
Traveling for business has taken on a whole new meaning since the road warrior days. I try to travel a few less weeks per year than in those days, and often am able to take the family along. I generally take at least two cruises annually, in addition to our land-based vacations.
